Jacques Louis Nyst, Aile 4 neige (1978)
Originally from Liège - where he would later teach at the Académie des Beaux-Arts - Jacques Louis Nyst is an emblematic figure of Belgian video art and one of its key pioneers of the 1970s. A major contributor to Vidéographie, his work exemplifies the experimental spirit of the formative years of video art.
Blending poetic, surreal, and pedagogical elements, Aile 4 neige (1978) unfolds as a science-fiction narrative in which people vanish from the Earth while machines continue to operate. The imagined scenarios were inspired by everyday objects from the immediate surroundings of Nyst.
