P2P x LABO BxL: Shared practices on analog film & knowledge exchange

On Friday, 3 October, at 15:00, argos opens its doors for a special session of its peer-to-peer programme, welcoming LABO BxL for an afternoon of exchange and collective knowledge sharing.

LABO BxL is an independent, artist-run film laboratory dedicated to analog filmmaking in all its forms, from shooting and developing to printing and experimenting with celluloid. Based in Brussels, LABO BxL provides facilities, equipment, and expertise for filmmakers, artists, and collectives working with super 8 and 16mm. It operates as a space for experimentation, mutual learning and collaboration, inviting practitioners from diverse backgrounds to engage with the materiality of film and exchange processes.

During this session, four LABO BxL film-artists (Antje Van Wichelen, Adina Ionescu-Muscel, Els van Riel, and Jen Debauche) will share their work-in-progress and ongoing research. Together, we’ll explore questions around collective filmmaking practices, as well as the evolving place of analog film in today’s digital-dominated landscape.

At 19:00, LABO BxL invites you upstairs for a tour of their newly opened studios on the top floor of the argos building. Through projections, reflections, and open discussion, they will spark a conversation on the place of film-on-film within the visual arts of today.

argos x LABO BxL

Since 2025, argos and LABO BxL have shared the same building in Brussels, creating natural opportunities for exchange between our teams, artists, and audiences. While our practices differ - argos focuses on moving image, archives, and contemporary audiovisual art, and LABO BxL specializes in analog film research - we are united by a shared commitment to supporting artists and fostering spaces for experimentation.
