argos is delighted to present The Red Tapes (1977) by Vito Acconci, a three-part epic work featured on Vidéographie, an innovative Belgian television programme that was one of the first to explore video as an artistic medium.

As one of the pioneering video pieces from the United States, The Red Tapes was originally created for video projection and merges intimate close-ups with expansive cinematic imagery to explore personal identity, culture, language, and American myth. At once poetic, critical, and theatrical, the work reflects the radical experimentation with form and meaning that defined Acconci’s practice and helped shape the early history of video art.

This screening offers a rare opportunity to experience one of the most ambitious works of its time in full.
