Becoming Ancestors and beyond: tracing ancestrality at argos

In the first half of the new year, we turn our attention to ancestrality: a theme that invites us to explore how our pasts echo into our futures, how legacies linger, and how our stories intertwine. Think of it as a chance to trace the threads that connect us – across time, space, and the occasional family myth.
At the heart of this programme is our new exhibition Becoming Ancestors, which proposes an expanded understanding of what ancestrality can mean today. Bringing together Western and Indigenous artists, the exhibition explores ancestral memory in all its complexity – fragmented or suppressed, persistent or reimagined, intimate or shared. Becoming Ancestors opens festively on 7 February and runs until 28 June. Free guided tours are offered every last Sunday of the month; full details can be found in our programme.
Our monthly microcinema evening 20/20 Vision also returns, with each edition approaching ancestrality from a different angle. Mark these Wednesday evenings in your calendar: 18 February, 18 March, 15 April, 20 May and 17 June.
For argos TV, we’ll delve into our collection to bring a carefully selected film to your screen each month – free to watch and resonating with the theme of ancestrality.
More activities will unfold as 2026 progresses. Keep an eye on our website and social channels to follow what’s to come.
