Special screening: Pivotal Imprints in Video Art

Join us for a special screening where we explore three groundbreaking approaches to video featured on Vidéographie during the programme’s run (1976-1986). The Vasulkas explored electronic images and signal processing in pioneering ways; Robert (Bob) Wilson used video to create theatrical and surreal experiences; and Bill Viola investigated human presence and perception through slow, meditative works.
Together, these video artworks show how, in the 1970s and 1980s, video moved between technological invention, performative staging, and deep reflection on human experience. All three approaches reflect Vidéographie’s vision of video as more than television content — a space for learning, provoking thought, and inspiring new ideas.
